Take a Fall Drive

Oregon and the Pacific Northwest may not have the acclaim of vibrant fall colors that areas like New England enjoy, but there are still great places to see trees in all of their autumn glory.

One popular drive is the Aufderheide Scenic Drive east of Eugene, Oregon. This beautiful 60-mile route connects Highway 58 to Highway 126 as it follows the North Fork of the Middle Fork Willamette River and the South Fork of the McKenzie River. You'll pass amazing old growth forests, alpine meadows and--this time of year--great fall foliage from Bigleaf Maples, Alder and other riparian trees.

The route can be accessed from Westfir just west of Oakridge off Highway 58 and about three miles above Blue River off Highway 126. For more information click here.
